So the boys left after church and the girls and I drove up to meet them on Monday morning.
I loved sleeping in a tent as a kid. (As an adult, not so much.)
I loved camping as a kid. (As an adult, not so much.)
We've found the perfect solution. Norm can sleep in a tent with the boys and I can join them the next day.
It was totally worth the drive, and beautiful in the springtime.
Karly is getting pretty good with a pocketknife. Whittling!
Amber is good at finding and throwing rocks.
The campsite was by a burbling brook.
Of course if there's a stream nearby, you have to cross it.
He told us to bring coats.
I always forget that it's colder in the forest, partly because you're up higher in the mountains.
Camp chairs make it fun to sit around.
Mainly, sitting by the stream is pretty great.
More sitting. We sat and talked and read.
Normally I don't take eleven photos in one day. This is kind of big for me. Even still, I didn't get a picture of the campfire or the great card game at the picnic table. Most people call it BS, but we call it "baloney" because that's really fun to say. My lie detector still works pretty great and I won.
I wish a picture could capture the smell of the forest and the serenity of the morning. I've always loved the mountains and the trees. So glad my family could spend some time here to recharge.
